Meandering through the neighborhood
When I leave home to walk north, it's usually up the railroad tracks. It's not the only possible route, just the most interesting. Every time I walk in the city, I wonder at what suburban residents are missing, with mile after mile of nothing but similar houses on similar streets.

This little guy is almost invisible, isn't he?

Rabbits' first rule of self-protection is "freeze", until you get too close

This is a railroad switch. If it weren't for these, trains would just run back and forth in a straight line

Another view of the same switch

Areas alongside railroad tracks are isolated and prime billboards for graffiti

What else would a tire company
use to make a planter?

Stores at the corner of 58th and Nicollet

Interesting little shops on Nicollet. Each one involves great industry, creativity, and risk... often under-appreciated by the rest of us.

The elaborate window display at Egyptique Imports

Bethel Assembly of God, with a
pithy advisory for us

Undoubtedly the nicest alley I've ever seen. Inviting, isn't it?

Just a lovely house

The newest enterprise on 54th street

Just look at these serious young businesswomen. Very good lemonade for 25¢

Another handsome house, with lots of trees, across the street from a cemetery

That same house has some non-human residents

Whoa! In addition to the pigeons, here's a very tall, lovable guy

Just a few doors away are two large and distinguished collies

I took this photo because this very tidy corporate training center is located at the back of a residential area where you would never expect to see it.

Ever wonder where school buses go at night?

Some sort of antenna tower soaring into a nice sky. See all those pegs? Those are steps for anyone foolish enough to want to climb up there.

Graffiti under a freeway overpass. That hasty top sketch shows serious talent

Graffiti, but a knowledgable word that means "overthrow" or "ruin". An artist I'd like to meet

This is a short and almost invisible row of tomato (I think) plants, planted alongside the tracks, perhaps by an immigrant living in a nearby apartment. I'll watch to see how they do.
