Because I spend most of my time reading or writing about politics, it's seldom that I have a chance to report good news, but I'm pleased to tell you that liberty-lovers have a new ally in Minnesota. The Institute for Justice, a remarkable libertarian law firm with offices in Washington DC and Phoenix, is opening an office here. IJ is renowned for representing clients whose rights are being trampled on by government, and has done so in courts around the nation, including the Supreme Court. Chip Mellor, co-founder, general counsel, and President of IJ will be here tomorrow for a kick-off meeting. Keep your eyes and ears open for more news about IJ in Minneapolis. Like so many other people, I have my annual holiday illness. Isn't it almost like an annual plague, that we'll all get together the Xmas and infect each other? Pure madness, and so predictable. Traveling, contact with many other people, broken routines, overeating, all add to reducing our resistance to viruses. I see from my window that we got another "skiff" of snow. It would be nice to see a couple of inches... maybe over the next few days.
