Guffaw, guffaw
We might have thought that President Bush has no sense of humor, but we were obviously wrong. In his campaigning speeches, he has said that he'll "make the nation safer and the world more peaceful than it is today."

Having taken the U.S. into battle in two foreign nations in less than 4 years, he's making a claim that any of us could make come true. Hell, he could fulfill that promise by losing the election!... or by dropping dead tomorrow.

I was immediately reminded of the libertarian analogy, perhaps penned by Harry Browne, that describes what government so often does... they break your leg, and then take credit for handing you a crutch that you paid for.

Death toll and elections
The death toll in Iraq continues to rise. The coalition forces toll has now risen over 1,000 by 10, and 88% of those (890) are Americans. The number of Iraqi civilians now totals 11,164. That totals 12,174 individuals, minimum, dead in a war that will never make any sense. That total doesn't come close to measuring the total death toll in Iraq, because nobody is tracking how many Iraqi military or insurgents have been killed.

In No Force, No Fraud, I've been hammering hard to try to get voters to stop falling for the tricks of the Democrats and Republicans, such as party loyalty at any cost, voting to keep the "evil others" out, all of which results in the "lesser of two evils" voting.

Personally, I'm delighting in my acquisition (finally) of a record turntable, on which I can finally again play my old LP's. It's a little like revisiting ones home town and finding many old friends. Music is far more important to me than most current friends would imagine.
