All about Smith This section is pure ego, and/or for my descendants. Leaving a record of ourselves should be considered mandatory for each of us. Think back to your grandparents (or great-grandparents, depending on your age). Do you wish you knew more about them as individuals? Do you wonder why they made certain life choices? Perhaps you know enough about them to understand that they were unique, creative individuals who affected the world around them. How we interact with others, how we change the world we live in, how our choices change our lives (and the lives of those with whom we interact) should be of interest to those who care about us. There is much to be learned from such details about the lives of others, so this section will be an expanding record of ME... those things that few know about, as we each become immersed in ourselves. Perhaps some personal history for context (although much of it is routine) and certainly some indications about the workings of my mind... those interests that are primarily solitary. As I write, at age 63, I'm going through the things I've collected over my lifetime. That which we KEEP, and cart around for decades, certainly has special, defining personal significance. I invite you to wander through my life. Hopefully, you will discover a person of more breadth and depth than you formerly realized (or cared about). That certainly would be true of almost anyone who took the trouble to do this. PLEASE REMOVE YOUR SHOES BEFORE WANDERING. MY LIFE HAS BEEN TRACKED ON QUITE ENOUGH ALREADY |
• A Brief Visual Personal History • Navy Memories- "It's only four years" • 40 years in Data Processing • A few career details • Some of my ancestors • Cars I've owned, and wish I still did • Favorite Music albums In 1961-62, the U.S. Navy gave me an "opportunity" to experience a place few will ever see - Midway Island. The year I spent there was, like others, largely unappreciated at the age of 22, but has meant more to me as I aged. That is especially true now that the Midway I remember is lost forever. As other former residents of Midway have done, I've kept those memories alive through photographs: Midway Islands 1961-62 Part I and Part II ART AND GRAPHIC DESIGN
I was drawing from the time I could hold a pencil, but was technically-minded as well. That led to going into pre-engineering initially, then switching to fine arts, then to computers. After 12 years in the computer field, I became a free-lance artist for 6 years, and gradually wound my way back into computers after the introduction of personal computers.
